Manipulating Precipitation Through Thermomechanical Treatment to Control Corrosion Behavior of an Al–Cu–Mg Alloy

Controlling the precipitation through thermomechanical treatment is an important method to improve corrosion resistance of Al–Cu–Mg alloys. In this study, behaviors alloys in solution-treated state and retrogression-treated under cold rolling deformation then natural aging were investigated. series alloys, cold-rolled improved intergranular by suppressing S-phase on grain boundaries. The increased pitting potential related concentration solute atoms within interiors eliminated 30% stimulated growth transformed distribution from discontinuous continuous boundaries, thereby changing network morphology. with large dimension contributed decreased potential.
